The pipe band was formed by Pipe Major Mark Jamieson supported by a select group of like minded traditional musicians who believed that above all else, playing in a musical ensemble should be enjoyable and fun. Starting out as Pocklington Pipes & Drums in January 2019, we soon realised that we needed to think a bit “bigger” as our members came from right across East Yorkshire and beyond. We changed our name to East Riding Pipe Band in April 2021 in preparation for returning to post pandemic activities.
The band endeavours to maintain and open, honest and safe environment where all are equal and everyone is supported to fulfil their musical potential. Hopefully with a laugh or two along the way.
Coronavirus Pandemic -Update 11 May 2021
During these exceptional times, the band continued to practice every Tuesday evening using Skype but with the recent government announcement, we now look forward to returning to our indoor practice venue on Tuesday evenings. We will still conduct practices in strict adherence with the government “rule of 6” and current guidelines. Whilst restrictions are in force, please get in touch first if you plan to come along. We still can’t accept unannounced visitors.
If you would like to know more about taking up an instrument or you’re looking for a new challenge, get in touch as we’d love to hear from you.
